Alpha Xi Delta Foundation is a 501 (c) (3) public charity. Contributions to the Foundation are tax deductible to the donor as allowable by law. The Foundation creates opportunities to ensure enduring resources so the Fraternity can fulfill her mission. The Foundation supports Fraternity educational and leadership development programming; provides and expands scholarships, grants and member-support funds; and supports the Fraternity’s national philanthropic partner, Autism Speaks.
How is the foundation different from the fraternity?
The Fraternity is a 501(c) (7) social organization. Contributions to the Fraternity (like any social or recreational organization) are not tax deductible. The work of the Fraternity is focused on recruitment, public relations, chapter and alumnae association management, and facility management.
What do Trustees do?
Trustees are responsible to manage resources wisely, ensure adequate resources, monitor programs and services for consistency with our vision and goals, and enhance Alpha Xi Delta’s public image. Trustees establish prudent investment philosophies, policies and practices; approve and monitor the budget; and identify, cultivate, and steward donors.
How many Trustees are there?
There are eleven trustees. Eight are elected for four-year terms; two are appointed for two year terms; and the National President serves by virtue of her office. The four elected Trustees shall serve for a term of four years, thus maintaining a board of eight elected Trustees at all times. A Trustee may serve two (2) consecutive elected terms, or any number of non-consecutive elected terms.
What is the nomination process?
The Foundation bylaws state: Four Trustees shall be elected by a majority vote of the delegates at the National Convention of the Alpha Xi Delta Fraternity from a single slate prepared by the Foundation Nominating Committee appointed by the Executive Committee of the Foundation. The recommendation form for Foundation Trustees may be downloaded from www.alphaxidelta.org or you may contact Fraternity Headquarters to ask for forms. February 15 is the deadline for submitting recommendation forms.

Why are the Foundation Annual Report and Honor/Memorial Listings only inThe Quill online?
The Foundation Trustees are very aware of the uncertain economy, which makes the support of our loyal Foundation donors even more important. Just as many of you face tough decisions on how to spend your hard earned dollars, so too do the Foundation Trustees. Having the Foundation Annual Report, including donor and honor/memorial recognition listings, available in The Quill online, is cost effective and results in savings that allow the Foundation to maintain funding for the Fraternity’s priority educational programs at existing levels.
